Greatest company running event - The Bloomberg Square mile relay
The Bloomberg Square Mile Relay can be a difficult task but also a fantastic, distinctive route and a good way for stressed city employees to let off steam whilst earning money for a good cause. Each and every athlete from the crew runs around the mile route as fast as possible just before giving the baton to their teammate. Annually the winning team is given a cheque for £5000 to give to a Bloomberg backed nonprofit of their choice. The list includes charities such as the American Foundation for AIDS Research, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and the New UNICEF.
The race finishes and starts in Guildhall Yard, the runners set out along Gresham Street, turn right all the way down Noble Street, right once again down London Wall, right past Royex House and keep to the road round to Love Lane until they are back again on Gresham Street when they turn left returning to Guildhall Yard.
The headline benefactor is Bloomberg along with recognized technology partner Epson, official fitness center partner Virgin Active, official retail partner Sportsdirect.com, official media partner Sport and official sportswear supplier Karrimor.
Every year a lot of companies put forward teams and in 2014 SenseCore AG were victorious with a time period of 54:39 minutes. Five further teams made it to the finish line in under an hour: Barclays, JP Morgan, Slaughter and May, Bank of America and Legal & General.
One of the many other squads that took part were Pinsent Masons, Rothschild, CBRE, Santander Asset Management and Anacap Financial Partners.
